Feeling bored? Annoyed? Uninspired? Maybe it's not your life that's bothering you. Rather it could be the size of your game.
So, what game ARE you playing? Do you even know? Maybe it's Don't Break the Ice, Monopoly, Sorry, or Perfection.
Perhaps it's Trouble, Stratego, or Risk.
Whatever game you are playing, you're winning. I'm confident of that. Problem is, you probably didn't choose your game--at least not recently.
Chances are you inherited your game, created it out of survival, or chose to play it when you were very young (and then you forgot you made the choice).
The game worked for you at one point. It protected you. It helped you make it in life. Now, like an old pair of jeans that no longer fit, it's uncomfortable, constraining, and way too small (especially for you).
Waiting is a popular game in life.
Waiting for the right circumstances, waiting for inspiration, waiting for the jeans to fit again. The only problem with waiting is it never gets you anywhere. And in the meantime, there you are: uncomfortable, naked, and missing out on moments.
Now, if any of this is striking a chord with you, congratulations--you're on your way to a new adventure. After all, the first step in creating a new game is to get that you don't like the one you are playing. After that, the possibilities are endless.
So, if you're ready to create something new, ask yourself the following:
- What game am I currently playing?
- When did I start playing it?
- Who am I playing it for?
- What is it costing me to keep playing the game?
- What is it costing others?
- What is the benefit I get out of playing this game?
- What is a game I could choose to play that would be worth my time and attention?
