I’ve never been one for fanfare.
Despite popular assumptions, I don’t enjoy parties, seldom celebrate holidays, and have even been known to blow off a birthday or two. So, when faced with thought of what to write for a New Year’s message—I was confronted.
After all...I am a coach. Shouldn’t I use this moment to say something deeply meaningful and motivational? Still, inside of me I can’t help but wonder: Why do we wait until the first of each year to start thinking about the direction of our lives?
So, at the risk of being "non-traditional," I am proposing a new option for a holiday. An occasion you can celebrate—any time, any place—with or without party hats. Today, on January 1st (and each day hereafter), I declare a “New Day” to laugh, wonder, and appreciate life.
New Day
(lovingly borrowed from a poster on my former employer’s wall)
This is the beginning of a new day.
You have been given this day to use as you will.
You can waste it.
Or use it.
For good.
What you do today is important
Because you are exchanging it
For a day of your life.
When tomorrow comes,
This day will be gone--forever;
In its place is something
You have left behind…
Let it be
Something good.
One Thing I Know for Sure: Each minute is another chance to turn it all around. (Vanilla Sky)

Great observation about how we spin our wheels and waste our energy rushing from the end of one day to another in a blur. I am now inspired again. Thanks!
