EDITORIAL NOTE: Kathy is out of town and it has been 244 days since I last blogged for my wife, but don't worry... I'm going to keep it business as usual in here.
I feel like posting the video first ruins the punchline for the rest of what I'm going to write, but the designer in me just can't deal with the thought of not leading with an image/video. So... I'll let it slide.
It's impressive isn't it?
I promised myself that I wouldn't try to draw any parallels between marriage and firefighting (too easy, right?) but I think most of us would agree that those two firefighters are going to accomplish their goal come hell or high water.
Those guys are unstoppable.
I like to be reminded that there is such a thing in people.
I can remember plenty of ocassions where I felt like Kathy and I were as good a team as these fire fighters.
- Sunday afternoon grocery shopping at Wal-Mart
- Navigating uncomfortable social situations (OMG, did that just happen?)
- Tax season
- International travel
- Taking kids to a theme park
- Evacuating 3 adults, 2 cats, a dog, and all of our most valuable possesions in a 2 door coupe (Thinking back to you Hurricane Charlie)
- Friends and family fighting (and losing) to Cancer
Wow, my subconscious just snuck that last one in there. O_0
Sometimes it's nice to have little reminders of what we (humans) are capable of. Especially when it feels like we've been stopped for so long by something that seems so unmovable. Borrelia burgdorferi, I'm looking at you.
Kathy and I are going to add Lyme to our list of things that didn't stop us (very soon). We've got a plan. We each have a role to play. We are, as we have always been... unstoppable.
Kinda' like THIS guy. I mean COME. ON.
"What's that?... car just blew up in my face?... yeah, I know pal. I was there. There was still a fire to put out, so I put it out."
