For a while, my husband has been on a no-kill kick. If he sees a snake, a bee, a beetle, or bug, he won't hurt it, but rather catch it and let it go.
Together, we've rescued possums, squirrels, raccoons, turtles, kittens, birds, dogs, and moles (and probably a few other things I've forgotten). However, when recently faced with a rat or two in the garage, I was hardly feeling benevolent (did I mention it ate the macaroni off of one of my art pieces?).
Despite rounds of arguing and perhaps my better judgement, in the end, heart won out over reason. Lucky for this little guy, I was willing to alter my extermination methods. Sans disease and jagged little teeth, he actually was quite cute.
