My list of have-to's is long.
-I have to figure out what is going on with my health.
-I have to end a contract that is stressing me out.
-I have to figure out how to make more money doing work that brings me joy.
-I have to get the laundry finished and the guest room painted.
-I have to lose 40 pounds.
-I have to pay taxes.
-I have to file my quarterlies.
-I have to move to a better neighborhood (or clean up my current one).
-I have to get the damaged carpet out of the garage and repair the roof and dry wall.
-I have to follow up with the doctor's office and find out what to do with my test.
-I have to call my mother back.
-I have to eat 19 more points today.
-I have to pay off my student loan and credit card.
-I have to take care of my animals.
-I have to figure out how I really want to use the next 1/2 of my life.
-I have to get pregnant before it's too late.
-I have to work out more often.
-I have to get back on a regular sleep schedule.
You get the picture. In truth, I don't really "have to" do anything (except breathe). So why does everything lately feel so damned important? This New Year's, I'm not making resolutions, but one thing I am altering is my "have- to's."

2011: "Choose to..."
